Bagbin urges protection of Ghanaian family values, applauds traditional authorities
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban S. K. Bagbin, has reiterated his strong support for the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, which was unanimously passed by parliament.
In an address delivered by his aide, Peter Bamfo, at the 2024 Suma Akwantu Kesie Festival in Suma, in the Bono Region, on Saturday, 23 March 2024, Speaker Bagbin emphasised the significance of upholding traditional values and preserving Ghanaian family values.
The passage of the bill, according to the Speaker, signifies a triumph of the country’s democratic principles and underscores its commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
He urged traditional leaders to continue advocating for the preservation of Ghana's true values.
Speaker Bagbin commended the Suma Traditional Council for its forward-thinking leadership in revitalising the festival as a driver for development within the traditional area.
He also praised the Council's initiative to establish an ultramodern social center in honor of the late Nana Kwadwo Adinkra, the inventor of Adinkra symbols.
“The Adinkra Centre will serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity, providing invaluable resources for youth training, cultural education, and socio-economic empowerment,” Speaker Bagbin remarked.
The Speaker also called on the residents of Suma to unite in supporting their leaders to ensure the continued development of the area.
