Dumsor: Amoasi's push for Napo exit founded on ignorance – Minister's spokesperson
Energy Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh’s spokesperson, Mr Kofi Abrefa Afena, has dismissed calls by Nana Amoasi, Executive Director of the Institute of Energy Security, for the dismissal of the Manyhia South MP by President Nana Akufo-Addo over the festering power crisis.
Mr Afena refuted claims that his boss was disconnected from reality, emphasising that Dr Prempeh focuses on delivering results rather than engaging in excessive rhetoric.
"Dr Prempeh is a man of action, not words”, Mr Afena said.
He said Nana Amoasi “fails to grasp the relentless efforts the minister has invested in tackling the current challenges."
Mr Afena asserted the ongoing power challenges are being addressed and tangible progress would soon be evident to all.
He questioned the logic behind Nana Amoasi's proposal to remove the energy minister, citing the resignation of Kwabena Donkor during the era of pervasive erratic power supply, alias dumsor, under John Mahama, as an example where resignation did not necessarily resolve the issue.
"Mr Amoasi needs to take a more serious approach. It's all about finding solutions. Dr Prempeh is collaborating with technical experts to address the challenges," Mr Afena added.
The spokesperson emphasised the minister's appeal for patience from Ghanaians as stakeholders work diligently to resolve the temporary challenges.
