May Day: I acknowledge challenges faced by workers – Kyerematen
Alan Kyerematen, founder and leader of the Movement for Change (MFC) and an independent presidential candidate, has acknowledged the significant challenges faced by workers throughout Ghana.
In a statement released on May 1, 2024, to commemorate May Day, Mr Kyerematen expressed his understanding of the longstanding issues of low wages, unsafe working conditions, and insufficient social protection, which have been further exacerbated by the recent economic downturn.
Pledging his commitment to address these pressing concerns, Mr Kyerematen announced that, in collaboration with union leaders, he will work to develop policy solutions aligned with the Workers’ Manifesto of the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
He emphasised his dedication to championing the rights and well-being of workers, striving to create an environment where they are respected, protected, and empowered to realise their full potential.
Furthermore, Mr Kyerematen promised to instigate a shift in mindset and attitude in Ghana, fostering a renewed sense of patriotism if elected as president in December.
He underscored his commitment to acting with courage, dedication, and conviction to safeguard public property, combat misuse and waste of public funds, and uphold the principles outlined in the Ghanaian Constitution.
As the country approaches the general elections scheduled for December 7, Mr Kyerematen called upon Ghanaians to vote for new leadership, emphasising the need for a representative government of national unity
