The African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) is set to convene in Cape Town, South Africa, from Monday, April 22, to Friday, April 26, 2024, to address critical industry issues and explore financing solutions for sustainable infrastructure projects across the continent, particularly in the oil and gas downstream segment.

This gathering comes amid a growing emphasis on energy security for Africa, amidst concerns about dwindling financial options for fossil fuels due to net-zero considerations.

Speaking recently in Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the President of ARDA and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana's National Petroleum Authority (NPA), underscored the pivotal role of the African downstream sector in meeting the continent's future energy needs.

He commended recent developments such as the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria and the Sentuo Refinery in Ghana.
