Finance Min. developing GH Care Prog to revitalise economy – Ken Ofori-Ata
The Ministry of Finance is developing a three-year COVID-19 alleviation and revitalisation support programme for enterprises to aid the rejuvenation of the country’s economy which has been devastated by the pandemic.
This was announced by the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta in Parliament on Thursday, 28 May 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected businesses and economies all over the world, including Ghana.
Government’s recent projections indicate that the country’s growth could be slowed to 1.5 per cent.
Mr Ofori-Atta told Parliament that: “The Ministry of Finance is developing a three-year COVID-19 alleviation and revitalisation of enterprise support programme – the Ghana Cares programme – to help revitalise the economy.”
He added that: “We are confident that this programme will help us stabilise and revitalise the economy.”
The government recently launched a GHS1 billion Coronavirus Alleviation Programme Business Support Scheme to support selected small and medium scale businesses, micro businesses and participating banks in the country as part of measures to restore the economy.
