GRA refutes claims of vehicle auction
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has categorically denied recent allegations of its involvement in the auctioning of vehicles, describing such reports as "false."
In a statement issued on Wednesdays, 11 December 2024, the GRA reaffirmed its commitment to established protocols for auctioning vehicles and goods through its Customs Division.
The statement comes in response to a fraudulent notice circulating in the media, which the GRA condemned as an attempt to mislead the public.
The authority emphasised the importance of relying solely on official communication channels to avoid falling prey to scams.
“The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has sighted a fake media release on a vehicle auction dated 3 December 2024, purported to be coming from the Commissioner-General of the GRA,” the statement read.
The fraudulent notice allegedly bore the signature of former Commissioner-General Rev. Dr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah while referencing the name of the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam.
“GRA wishes to inform the general public that the notice circulating in the public domain is FAKE,” the statement added.
The GRA urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid making payments to unauthorised persons or groups linked to the false reports.
The authority reassured the public of its adherence to transparency and due process in all operations, cautioning individuals to verify any information through its official platforms.
