Julie Essiam is new GRA boss
Madam Julie Essiam has been appointed by President Nana Addo Danlwa Akufo-Addo as the new Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
Madam Essiam succeeds Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
Madam Essiam previously served as the Commissioner overseeing the Support Services Division of the GRA.
The appointment comes after President Akufo-Addo dissolved the Board of the GRA, which was chaired by Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi.
The dissolution of the board comes in the wake of criticisms leveled against the GRA by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia accused the GRA of pressuring businesses for taxes due to unrealistic targets.
