Presidency launches national training roadmap for youth in poultry and livestock farming

The Office of the President, in collaboration with Feedico and other key stakeholders, has officially launched a comprehensive training roadmap aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with practical skills in poultry and livestock farming.
The launch event took place today at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – Animal Research Institute (CSIR-ARI) in Adenta.
The nationwide training programme, which will run from July 28, 2025, to December 2026, is part of a strategic effort to empower the youth, create sustainable employment, and enhance food security.
The initiative will span all 16 regions of the country and will be delivered in languages most familiar to trainees to maximise understanding and impact.
Key partners in the initiative include Feedico, Birsen Kimya, and the CSIR-Animal Research Institute.
In her welcome address, Dr. E.D.O. Ansa, Director of the Animal Research Institute, expressed confidence in the Institute’s capacity to address the pressing challenges faced by young poultry and livestock farmers in Ghana.
“We are ready and equipped to provide scientific support and practical solutions that will transform youth-led agriculture in this country,” she said.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Office of the President, Dr Peter Boamah Otukunor, Director for the Presidential Initiative on Agriculture and Agribusiness, emphasised the transformative potential of the programme.
“This initiative is not just about skills development; it’s about economic empowerment and national development,” he noted. “By training our youth in poultry and livestock farming, we are creating opportunities for self-employment and building the capacity to feed our nation.”
The training programme is expected to benefit thousands of young people across Ghana, positioning them to take advantage of opportunities in the agricultural value chain while contributing to national food security and rural economic growth.
