A newly constructed ultra-modern tanker drivers’ park has been inaugurated at the BOST Kumasi depot following a donation by ROCK AFRICA aimed at improving the welfare, safety, and working conditions of fuel tanker drivers.

The facility, described as a place for rest and rejuvenation, was officially handed over during a ceremony attended by key stakeholders in the petroleum downstream sector.

Receiving the facility, the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Tameklo, expressed appreciation to ROCK AFRICA for what he described as a significant contribution to the welfare of tanker drivers.

He noted that the facility would help address the longstanding challenge of drivers and their assistants parking on road shoulders and other unsafe locations to rest during long journeys.

According to Mr. Tameklo, the initiative has the potential to improve road safety while providing drivers with a safe and comfortable environment to recuperate before continuing their trips.

He further called on other industry players to emulate the example set by ROCK AFRICA by investing in initiatives that support the well-being of workers within the petroleum transport value chain.

The Chief Executive Officer of ROCK AFRICA, Francis Gavor, reaffirmed the company's commitment to improving working conditions for tanker drivers, whose role remains critical to the efficient distribution of petroleum products across the country.

He said the facility reflects the company's dedication to supporting industry stakeholders and enhancing safety standards within the sector.

The rest facility was formally received on behalf of tanker drivers by the Chairman of the Tanker Drivers Union, George Nyaunu.

Mr. Nyaunu welcomed the initiative and pledged on behalf of the drivers to maintain the facility to the highest standards.

He described the project as a timely intervention that would improve the welfare of drivers and contribute to safer and more efficient transport operations.
