Replicate Kwahu Business Forum nationwide- UCC don to Mahama

The Dean of the School of Business at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof John Gatsi, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to replicate the recently held Kwahu Business Forum across other regions of the country to stimulate business and economic growth.
According to Prof. Gatsi, the maiden edition of the forum, which took place in the Eastern Region during the Easter festivities, successfully mobilised entrepreneurs from the Kwahu enclave and provided a much-needed platform to stimulate business growth in the area.
He commended the initiative, describing it as a laudable move that should not be a one-off event.
“This is a good idea, and having similar forums across the country will encourage more businesspeople to explore opportunities in other regions,” he said.
Prof. Gatsi emphasised that the forum not only celebrated entrepreneurship but also fostered meaningful dialogue between business leaders and policymakers.
He added that replicating the event nationwide would create an enabling environment for regional economic development.
He further praised the involvement of the Chief of Staff in engaging commercial banks to participate in the forum, describing the move as strategic and impactful.
“That gesture will compel the commercial banks to make funding more accessible to entrepreneurs who are ready to start or expand businesses in those regions,” he noted.
Prof. Gatsi concluded by urging the government to institutionalise such business forums, stating that they are crucial for unlocking the economic potential of Ghana’s various regions.
Prof Gatsi made this commendation while speaking in an interview with Accra-based Kessben FM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
