The 3Music Awards makes a comeback this year in September.

The announcement was made on Thursday, July 25, 2024, during a presser at the Capitol Cafe in Labone, Accra.

The popular awards show failed to come off in 2023, much to the disappointment of music fans and entertainment stakeholders.

The reason cited was fiscal contraints. This followed the resignation of Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as CEO of the organising body, 3Music Network, to pursue his political aspirations.

The last 3Music Awards was on March 26, 2022, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

3Music Awards was founded in 2018. As it became popular, it was championed to break the monopoly of the 25-year-old Ghana Music Awards. It was also observed, where the GMA appeared to spotlight the mainstream, the 3Music Awards apparently juggled mainstream and alternative acts in their recognition efforts.

Following deliberations over research data by the Board and Academy of the 3Music Awards, a nominee party will be held in August to unveil the 2024 contenders.

Meanwhile, the excitement about the 3Music Awards climaxed when Black Sherif debuted his Kwaku the Traveller smash under simulated rain.
