Adina Thembi Ndanse has recalled how tough her childhood was because of stereotyping. 

The Why hitmaker said "growing up," she was labelled as "disrespectful" and "bad" because she was "a fair skin coloured person".

She bemoaned she was "judged" as such "when a lot of people saw me at first glance".

She spoke to Property FM based in Cape Coast.

"In the area we resided, people used to tell my mother to keep a close eye on me just because I was looking very fair in complexion," Adina narrated.

The Ghanaian of West and South African heritage said she used "to feel so hurt" when her mother told her about "the complaints she was getting about me".

She indicated she was particularly disturbed by this trend since she could not "see what I've done wrong".

The Hyedzin (Be Strong) singer underscored the preposterousness of discriminating against someone based on their skin when she said, "But just because of the way God has created me, the moment you set your eyes on me, you conclude that I'll be a very bad girl or disrespectful, and that's some of the experiences I've been through."
