Afriyie Wutah suggests AI-generated music category at awards
Highlife singer and guitarist Afriyie Wutah has called on music award organisers to introduce a category for AI-generated songs.
The acclaimed musician expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of AI-created music in the industry, describing it as less original and inferior compared to music produced entirely by human artists.
In a Facebook post, Afriyie stated, “Going forward, I think ‘music awards’ organisers should have a category for ‘AI’ generated songs. The synthe[tic songs have become] plenty for the system.”
His remarks come amid a growing trend of artificial intelligence being used in music production, prompting debates about creativity, artistic recognition, and the role of AI in shaping the future of the music industry.
