Family Head testifies in court as dispute over Daddy Lumba’s marital status deepens
A key witness in the ongoing legal battle over the marital status of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba has told the court he was only informed — but never witnessed — the alleged marriage between the musician and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni.
Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, head of the musician’s extended family, testified that he did not attend any ceremony said to have taken place in 1991.
According to him, he only met Odo Broni after Daddy Lumba’s passing, but was later told that a customary marriage between the two allegedly occurred in 2010 at Tantra Hills.
The testimony forms part of a heated dispute before the court, as another woman, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, contests claims that Priscilla Ofori was ever married to the late artiste.
She is asking the court to declare her as the sole surviving wife and restrain Odo Broni from presenting herself as Lumba’s spouse.
The case, which has attracted significant public interest, is expected to continue as both parties present further evidence to support their claims.
