Ghanaian professional dancer, drummer, top model, and entrepreneur Clifford Selorm Ametefe continues to shine across Europe, representing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through traditional African music, dance, and global artistic exchange.

Recently, Clifford, an artist from Ghana's National Dance Company (Ghana Dance Ensemble, Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana), performed in Prague, Czech Republic, as part of the Czech Chamber Music Society’s 131st Concert Season (2025/2026) with the HAMU Percussion Ensemble, under the artistic direction of Daniel Mikolášek.

The concert, held at the prestigious Lichtenštejnský Palác, Sál Martinů, beautifully merged European classical percussion with traditional African rhythms, captivating audiences and critics alike. He was officially featured in the event brochure as:

“A dancer, drummer, educator, and choreographer from Accra, Ghana … mastering more than 140 Ghanaian and African traditional dance styles and performing with the Ghana Dance Ensemble.”

Performance at the Bubenický Festival Litomyšl

Clifford also performed with the Obroni Ensemble, directed by Mr. Antonín Procházka, at the annual Bubenický Festival Litomyšl, one of the Czech Republic’s most celebrated percussion and performance festivals.

The event gathered some of the world’s leading drummers and percussionists, including the internationally acclaimed drummer and composer Mark Guiliana, whose participation added global prestige to the festival lineup.

Clifford’s appearance with the Obroni Ensemble was one of the highlights of the festival, featuring Ghanaian-inspired rhythms, dance, and movement.

The performance reflected Antonín Procházka’s earlier artistic exchange at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he was inspired by Ghanaian drumming traditions and cultural expression. It was a proud and emotional moment where African tradition and European innovation shared the same heartbeat on stage.

Sold Out Concert at the Talichův Beroun Festival

Following his Prague performances, Clifford joined the HAMU Percussion Ensemble once again at the 43rd Talichův Beroun International Music Festival, a prestigious event celebrating the legacy of Czech conductor Václav Talich.

Their concert, titled “Drums As You Don’t Know Them”, was completely sold out, drawing massive interest from audiences and media alike. 

Together, Clifford and the ensemble presented a bold exploration of percussion in contemporary compositions, blending classical precision with African rhythm, movement, and color.

The performance created a rare cross-disciplinary connection between music, dance, and nonverbal theatre, engaging students and graduates from the Department of Nonverbal Theater and the Department of Dance, reinforcing Clifford’s role as a bridge between continents and cultures.

Clifford Selorm Ametefe continues his European cultural tour, performing and leading traditional African music and dance workshops at festivals and universities while collaborating with renowned performing artists and institutions. Each performance serves as a bridge between cultures and an opportunity to showcase the depth, rhythm, and beauty of Ghana’s artistic traditions.
