Ghana–China engagements unlock opportunities for tourism, culture, creative arts, and the 24-hour economy
Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA) is exploring new frontiers in tourism, culture, and the creative industries following a successful high-level engagement in China.
A delegation led by Dr Eric Afornofe and Mr Abeiku 'Santana' Aggrey briefed the Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, on the outcomes of the mission, which was undertaken as a follow-up to the 2025 state visit of President John Dramani Mahama.
The ministry in a statement on Facebook noted that the engagements opened significant avenues for collaboration in areas such as tourism promotion, cultural exchange, infrastructure development, and investment in Ghana’s emerging 24-hour economy.
Opportunities include partnerships to develop hospitality facilities, creative industry projects, academic exchange programmes, and expanded tourism offerings.
Chinese institutions and private sector partners expressed keen interest in supporting educational exchanges, translating Ghanaian works, hosting cultural festivals, and including Ghana in more comprehensive tour packages.
Minister Gomashie emphasised the ministry’s commitment to advancing these partnerships through structured diplomatic follow-ups, highlighting their potential to drive sector growth and contribute to national development.
The ministry anticipates that these engagements will strengthen Ghana’s global cultural footprint and boost the country’s tourism and creative arts sectors, aligning with broader economic growth initiatives.
