Ghana Comedy Awards 2024 will be followed by a nationwide and international tour – Dennis Boateng
A follow-up to the 2024 Ghana Comedy Awards (GCA), formerly Comedy & Poetry Awards (COPO), is a planned local and international tour, Dennis Boateng has announced.
The founder and CEO of the Ghana Comedy Awards was speaking to Prince Benjamin (PB) on the Class Morning Show on Class 91.3 FM.
The Ghana Comedy Awards 2024 took place on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
“One of the things that’s coming out of the awards is a tour, a local one and a foreign one. We’re building up to a UK tour – it will all be in batches and phases with the winners of the awards.
“We won’t have all of them go [at once] but it’ll be in phases. We’re starting with a nationwide tour in Ghana in June, on the 15th. The first destination is Ho. The project is [dubbed] Ghana Must Laugh,” he informed.
Dennis Boateng pointed out the climax for Ghana Must Laugh will be in December.
According to him, apart from introducing comic talents to the various regions of Ghana, the tour is an effort to foster peace and unity as Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, 2024, to elect new parliamentarians and a president.
“This is all for the peace of the election. We’re just hoping we’ll have a peaceful election,” he prayed.
“We’re bridging gaps and borders, making sure our people make people feel better when they come on their stages,” he promised, asking patrons and stakeholders to “open their arms to us”.
He indicated +233-245-95-85-27 as a contact line for interest sponsors.
Per an announcement on Boateng's WhatsApp status, April 30, 2024, the tour is "80%" ready to begin.
COPO debuted in 2019. It was rebranded in 2024 as GCA.
According to Boateng, there will soon be a Ghana Poetry Awards (GPA) event also.
