The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has celebrated 100 years of Hala music, a genre that has become an integral part of Ghanaian culture and identity.

The event, held in Accra, brought together musicians, creatives, and stakeholders to honour the pioneers and trailblazers of Hala music.

GTA Chief Executive, Mrs. Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto, highlighted the significance of Hala music in telling Ghanaian stories and preserving the country's heritage.

"Hala has carried Ghana's name beyond our borders, opening doors, sparking curiosity, and drawing people to our world," she said.

The event featured a surprise giveaway of gold pieces from Gold Board Jewellery, with 20 remarkable legends receiving a piece of gold.

The GTA also promoted Ghana's tourism sector, encouraging visitors to "come and have fun and celebrate" Ghana's rich culture.

Hala music, which blends African rhythms with Western instruments, has been a powerful storytelling tool, reflecting Ghana's history, emotions, and experiences.

The GTA recognises Hala as a living expression of Ghanaian life and a key part of the country's tourism mission.
