Martin Kofi King Arthur, alias Kinaata, has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for the Conservation and Sustainability of the Ocean by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advisory unit of the Office of the President.

The ambassadorial mandate was conferred on the Highlife star after the maiden National Blue Economy Summit in Accra, May 31 to June 1, 2023.

Dr Eugene Owusu, the special advisor on SDGs to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented the honour to Kinaata.

Receiving the honour and responsibility, the multiple award-winning singer-songwriter remarked: “I am deeply honoured by this appointment. Growing up in Takoradi, the ocean has always been a part of my life. I am here to collaborate with you all to transform the dream of ocean protection into a tangible reality,” according to ghstandard.com.

On Twitter, Friday, June 2, 2023, the Effiekuma Love hitmaker also wrote: "It is my pleasure to announce that I have been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for the Conservation and Sustainability of the Ocean [sea wave emoji] by the SDG Advisory Unit (Office of the President)..."

In 2018, the Takoradi-born-and-raised star released the song No Place Like Home, collaborating with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) as an advocate for safe migration.

Four years ago, Kinaata released a song titled Illegal Fishing, joining the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and the Fishery Commission to combat illegal fishing practices and encourage compliance with government's closed season directives.
