Martha Ankomah's GHS5m defamation suit: Lil Win moves for out-of-court settlement

The High Court in Accra has been informed Kwadwo ‘Lil Win’ Nkansah has approached Martha Ankomah for an out-of-court settlement over her GH₵5 million defamation suit.
There was a hearing in court concerning the matter yesterday, during which Martha's legal team, led by Nii Apatu Plange, informed the court of the development.
“There has been some development. We were supposed to start the trial today, Wednesday, July 31. Unfortunately, some development has come up, and I pray that my client and I approach the bench,” he said, according to the EIB Network.
Justice Forson Agyapong Baah made an acknowledgement and, thus, adjourned the case to August 15, to formalise the settlement.
The hearing and adjournment come after a case management conference on July 25 was concluded.
Martha's February 14 lawsuit claims Lil Win’s disparaging utterances in a viral video have damaged her reputation and that of GTP, a textile brand she once modelled for.
Martha's desired reliefs, contained in her lawsuit, are:
* GH¢5 million in damages for defamation.
* Compensatory damages for harm to her reputation.
* Aggravated damages for the malicious nature of the statements.
* An apology and retraction of the defamatory words.
* An injunction preventing Lil Win from making further defamatory statements.
