Shatta Wale apologises to 'physically challenged', promises to be 'mindful of words and actions'
Shatta Movement Empire, founded and led by Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, has issued an apology to “the physically challenged”.
The apology, contained in a letter, signed by manager Samuel Atuobi Baah, alias Sammy Flex, was dated Thursday April 18, 2024.
The letter said Shatta Wale’s recent mockery of rival Dancehall act Stonebwoy, “may have been “misinterpreted”.
“The intention behind the statement” made on the Salla Fest stage, April 11, 2024, “was not made to mock or belittle individuals with disabilities, but rather to emphasise the importance of Stonebwoy acting right and treating others with respect at all times”.
Shatta Movement Empire conceded “the wording” of Shatta Wale’s “statement may have been insensitive” and noted it appreciates the “value and respect the contributions and rights of individuals with disabilities in our society”.
The letter noted what appeared to be repentance on Shatta Wale’s part, the artiste and his team “will strive to be more mindful of our words and actions in the future”.
