Sista Afia shares how Shatta Wale collaboration transformed her career
Award-winning Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has revealed that her collaboration with dancehall star Shatta Wale played a crucial role in changing the direction of her music career.
In an interview aired on Onua TV, the singer disclosed that she was initially hesitant to approach Shatta Wale because she greatly admired him and was a devoted fan of his music.
“I was a big fan of Shatta Wale, so I felt too shy to approach him.
The first time we met, I was really nervous,” she said.
Sista Afia explained that she was surprised when Shatta Wale mentioned her name during their first meeting, as she believed he was not familiar with her work at the time.
“He called my name and I was shocked. I had released Are You Ready then, but it was not a hit, so I thought he didn’t know who I was,” she noted.
According to the singer, the collaboration proved to be a turning point in her career, boosting her confidence and giving her music greater exposure.
She said working with Shatta Wale helped introduce her songs to a wider audience and significantly influenced her growth and recognition in the music industry.
