Yellow Lamborghini controversy: Sarkodie artfully comments on Shatta Wale vs EOCO
It would appear Sarkodie spared a line to comment on Shatta Wale's recent showdown with the Economic & Organised Crime Organisations (EOCO), in his new song.
On Put It On God, Sarkodie featured rising singer AlorG.
As he asserted his dominance and success as a rap heavyweight, he declared in Akan/Twi and Pidgin, "The money is immense. Take the yellow, and we will buy the purple."
EOCO recently seized a yellow Lamborghini which was in Shatta Wale's possession, explaining that it was an item of FBI interest, as it had been cited as part of proceeds from fraudulent activities in the United States of America (USA).
Not long after this, a purple Lamborghini was acquired by the Reggae/Dancehall singer and record producer who never misses an opportunity to brag about his material possessions and incessant flow of cash.
Sarkodie's curious rap line came after the two made up after their animosity, which caused Sarkodie to release a 2018 diss song called My Advice. Shatta Wale's diss directed at Sarkodie was called Little Tip.
The makeup was made public when Shatta Wale surprisingly sponsored transportation for Sarkodie's Rapperholic Homecoming in Kumasi, and also performed their hit collaborations together for the heavily attended event.
Sarkodie did not mention Shatta Wale's name on Put It On God, and the lyric in question was not detailed enough to be interpreted as a comment on the FBI investigations. It could be Sarkodie's way of solidarising with Wale, notwithstanding the allegations. It is a familiar sentiment, however, when one considers the rapper and businessman's famed catch phrase from his earlier days in the mainstream, "money no be problem;" Pidgin for "I am so wealthy, money is not a problem."
