Ga State launches maiden 4-day Homowo Carnival
The Ga State has launched its first-ever Homowo Carnival, a four-day cultural and tourism event to be held in Gamashie as part of activities commemorating 200 years since the historic Battle of Katamanso.
The carnival was officially unveiled on Thursday at the Omanye Aba Hall.
Organisers say the initiative is aimed at promoting Ga culture, boosting tourism, supporting local businesses, creating opportunities for young people and attracting investment to the community.
The event is expected to complement the annual Homowo Festival and will feature traditional processions, cultural exhibitions, live music performances, food fairs and family-friendly activities.
According to organisers, the Homowo Carnival forms part of efforts to position Gamashie as a major heritage tourism destination in Ghana while showcasing the rich cultural traditions of the Ga people.
