Kwahu Traditional Council denies reports of Queen-Mother’s abduction
The Kwahu Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has dismissed as false recent reports by Newsalertgh claiming that Nana Adwoa Gyamfuah III, the Paramount Queen-Mother of Kwahu, had been abducted.
In a press release, the Council explained that the Ghana Police Service was acting in accordance with an interlocutory injunction issued on June 24, 2024, by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs in favour of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, the substantive Kwahuhene.
The injunction restrains Baffour Osei Akoto, who had been styling himself as Kwahuhene, along with the Queen-Mother and others, from interfering with Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II’s duties at the Abene Palace.
Police action was taken to prevent potential clashes and maintain peace in the area.
The Council clarified that the Queen-Mother does not reside at the Abene Palace, and no abduction occurred.
All individuals taken into custody by the Police are reportedly safe and in good health.
Furthermore, the Council alleged that the Queen-Mother had engaged individuals in an attempt to forcibly take over the Abene Palace and had issued threats aimed at disrupting the legitimate functions of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II.
The statement, signed by Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, President of the Kwahu Traditional Council, included a copy of the official injunction for public reference, reinforcing the Council’s call for calm and accurate reporting.
