AFFA files RTI over 'Recruitment Corruption' at GIFEC

A pro-governance and accountability group, Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA), has slammed the CEO of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications, Rashid Tanko for engaging in illegal recruitment of staff.
In an RTI filed on Tuesday, AFFA demanded full disclosure on the status of vacancies advertised by GIFEC in the dailies last week – which the group [AFFA] believes have been filled without recourse to proper procedures.
Vacant positions advertised included: Principal Manager, Administration: Principal Manager, Research;
Principal Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E); Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs among others, but the group says these positions have already been filled even before the deadline elapses, hence their RTI.
According to the group, there are already fliers of NDC fanatics on social media receiving and accepting congratulatory messages for their appointment into these same positions, which, deadline for application is supposed to be 23rd April, 2025.
“This advertisement by GIFEC is a charade. Take it from me, there are no vacancies as we speak. These positions have already been filled with NDC fanatics following the arbitrary dismissal of persons whom the new CEO suspected were sympathetic to the opposition NPP”, Executive Secretary of the group said.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a staff at GIFEC corroborated the assertion of AFFA, raising serious questions about the legality of the recruitment done.
GIFEC has 14 days to respond to the RTI. We shall keep a close eye on this development.
