All previously sold public lands to be reviewed to ensure value- for-money- Lands Minister
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced that all public lands previously sold by the government will be reviewed to ensure that the state receives value- for- money.
Speaking during a visit by the Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to the Ministry, Mr. Buah disclosed that the review process has already commenced.
He noted that although certain individuals were entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding public lands, there have been instances of abuse and mismanagement.
The Minister emphasised the President’s firm commitment to the effective and transparent management of public lands.
“His Excellency the President has vowed to ensure that we get it right.
I am pleased to inform you that we have constituted a team, led by my able deputy, and with Cabinet approval, we are addressing this matter on a long-term basis,” he stated.
Issuing a strong warning to public officials, Mr. Buah cautioned against the misappropriation of state lands.
“By the time we are done, no government official will even contemplate taking public land.
Names of offenders will be published in every newspaper,” he stressed.
He further revealed that the Cabinet has approved a comprehensive review of all previously sold public lands to confirm that the transactions were properly executed and reflected true value for money.
In addition, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources announced plans to roll out a Land Banks Initiative, aimed at securing land for large-scale agricultural production and investment.
Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has commended the Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for his effective stewardship of the nation’s lands and natural resources.
