E/R: Fire at Oyoko Methodist SHS contained by Fire Service; no casualties reported

A fire outbreak at the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School in Koforidua on Monday, August 4, 2025, was swiftly brought under control by the personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), preventing extensive damage to school property.
The blaze, which broke out in a two-bedroom self-contained apartment occupied by the housemaster on the first floor of a one-storey building, destroyed the roof, ceiling, furniture, electrical appliances, and other personal items.
Thanks to the prompt response of firefighters, the adjoining boys’ dormitory was saved from destruction.
The GNFS received the emergency call at 6:24 p.m. and quickly deployed two fire engines to the scene.
The first team, led by ADO I Asare, arrived at 6:34 p.m., successfully brought the fire under control by 7:24 p.m., and fully extinguished it by 8:29 p.m.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. However, preliminary findings suggest an electrical fault within the ceiling of the housemaster’s apartment may have triggered the incident.
