Elvis Afriyie Ankrah applauds Mahama for National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving

Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has commended President John Dramani Mahama for instituting Ghana’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, describing it as a bold and unifying initiative that reflects strong national leadership and vision.
Speaking at a media briefing, Mr Ankrah praised the decision as one that transcends political, religious, and ethnic boundaries, fostering a sense of togetherness and shared purpose among Ghanaians.
He said the occasion serves as a moment for national reflection and gratitude.
“The theme, ‘Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity,’ is a powerful call to action,” he said.
“It urges us all to come together in hope, thankfulness, and commitment to building a better Ghana.”
Delivering the keynote address, Ankrah emphasised the importance of unity and collective responsibility in achieving national development.
He said the day offers an opportunity for Ghanaians to take stock of the country’s journey—its successes, failures, and resilience—and to chart a renewed path forward.
He urged citizens to consider their role in Ghana's destiny, suggesting that their presence in the country is by divine design and carries a higher purpose.
He called for a national "reset," asking Ghanaians to let go of destructive attitudes such as blame, greed, and impunity, and instead embrace truth, discipline, and a shared commitment to progress.
“We cannot continue doing the same things and expect different results,” Mr Ankrah noted, stressing the need for transformation and a renewed mindset to move the nation forward.
His message concluded with a passionate appeal for unity, reminding Ghanaians that national prosperity can only be achieved through collective effort, moral renewal, and a firm belief in the country's potential.
