Food suppliers suspect 'deliberate, unconscionable' MoE to sabotage National Food Buffer Stock Company
The National Food Suppliers Association of Ghana (NAFSAG) has declared its intention to stage a protest at the Ministry of Education premises if outstanding debts owed to its members remain unsettled within the next 14 days.
In a statement issued on 26 March 2024, NAFSAG voiced concerns over what it perceives as inequitable distribution of funds, with only a select few registered under the Ghana Commodity Exchange receiving payments.
The Association has accused the Ministry of Education of lacking transparency and fairness in fund disbursement, suggesting a potential deliberate effort to hinder the operations of the National Food Buffer Stock Company.
"We suspect a deliberate and unconscionable attempt by the Ministry of Education to frustrate the operational activities of the National Food Buffer Stock Company to the disadvantage and chagrin of the suppliers," the statement reads.
NAFSAG demands immediate action to address the issue and ensure equitable treatment for all suppliers involved, noting that suppliers of the National Food Buffer Stock Company have gone unpaid since February 2023.
