Immigration Service interdicts 6 officers for 'gross misconduct', 'assaulting superior officer' seen in viral video
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has announced the interdiction of six officers for "gross misconduct" which was captured in a recent social media video which went viral.
The video which captured the events of November 25, 2025, at the Offinso In-land Checkpoint, showed officers of the GIS "verbally assaulting a superior officer who. had identified himself as a deputy commissioner of immigration (DCOI)" and was at the material time travelling as a passenger on a commercial vehicle.
GIS said, in their statement, that the conduct of the officer was "a clear breahc of the Ghana Immigration Service 'Code of Conduct' and cannot be tolerated".
"Management has initiated investigations into the matter, and appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with with the Ghana Immigration Service Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2245)," the statement further noted.
