Kumasi cultural centre land not sold – Management

The management of the Kumasi Centre for National Culture in the Ashanti Region has described as false, allegations that it has leased a tract of land at the frontage of its administration block to a private individual to build offices and a conference hall.
Speaking in an interview with Class 91.3 FM's Elisha Adarkwah, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the centre, Mr Peter King Appiah, said the land has not been sold out as is being reported but has rather been given to the private person to embark on a Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) project.
The BOT project, he said, will be the construction of a storey building that will have a conference hall on its ground floor and offices on the top floor.
An agreement, he said, was reached with the company, Super A1, the private entity to construct the offices, for some years and later hand them over to the centre; the conference hall will be operated by the centre when the project is fully completed.
Again, Mr Appiah described the allegation as unfortunate and unfounded, calling on the public to disregard it since they have not breached any rules and regulations governing the centre.
He said the management of the centre should rather be commended because they thought about the future of the centre in drafting the agreement
