The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has issued implementation guidelines for the government's two-day National Flood Aftermath Clean-up Exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026.

In a press release dated July 9, the Ministry said the exercise is being conducted on the directive of President John Dramani Mahama to support clean-up efforts in the seven flood-affected regions.

The exercise will be held from 6 AM to 1 PM on both days.

According to the ministry, activities on Friday will involve all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), public and private institutions, security services, educational institutions, waste management companies and the general public.

Saturday's exercise will focus on communities and residents, community-based and volunteer groups, security services, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies with the support of waste management companies, and the general public.

The ministry also directed that all shops, markets, commercial establishments, corporate organisations and other non-essential businesses within the affected regions remain closed between 6 AM and 1 PM on both days to ensure full participation and the effective execution of the exercise.

It noted, however, that institutions providing essential and emergency services are exempt from the closure directive.

The ministry said the arrangements are intended to facilitate the effective conduct of the nationwide clean-up exercise in the affected regions.
