NDC Northern Vice Chairman hails Lordina Mahama for lifesaving interventions in the North
The Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), General Amin, has lauded First Lady Lordina Mahama for her sustained humanitarian work, particularly her interventions in support of vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in northern Ghana.
Speaking on The Citizen Show on Accra 100.5 FM, hosted by Nana Otu Darko, General Amin described the work of the Lordina Foundation as impactful, compassionate, and life-changing, especially for women and children who have suffered years of neglect.
According to him, the foundation has, since 2012, consistently provided food, clothing, soap, and other essential items to inmates of the Gambaga Witches Camp, one of the most vulnerable settlements in the region.
He noted that many of the women at the camp are elderly—some aged 70 years and above—while others are young girls who should have been in school.
“The first time I visited Gambaga, I wept,” General Amin recounted.
“I saw very old women and young girls who should have been in classrooms, all living there under difficult conditions.
But because of the intervention of Lordina Mahama, many of the children are now in school, and the elderly are receiving better healthcare and support.”
He further highlighted the foundation’s contribution to the Tamale Children’s Home, where a modern facility has been constructed to improve the living conditions of the children.
He said the foundation regularly supplies food, clothing, baby food, and other necessities, easing the burden on caregivers and ensuring the well-being of the children.
General Amin emphasised that although Lordina Mahama is not always physically present, representatives of the foundation often make donations on her behalf, reflecting her continuous commitment to humanitarian service.
“I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the First Lady of Ghana, Lordina Mahama, for the fantastic work she has been doing, especially for the people of the North and the disadvantaged in our society,” he said.
He concluded by commending her compassion and dedication, stating that her efforts have restored hope and dignity to many vulnerable people across the region.
