Peace Council calls for dialogue ahead of Akwatia by-election on Tuesday

The National Peace Council (NPC) has invited the leadership of the country’s two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to a meeting in Akwatia ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
In a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Dr. George Amoh, the NPC said the dialogue is part of efforts to promote peace and stability before, during, and after the polls.
The Council noted that the engagement follows earlier meetings held separately with the NDC on July 29, 2025, and the NPP on July 30, 2025.
The proposed meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. in Akwatia.
Both party General Secretaries have been formally invited, with copies also sent to the national chairmen of the NDC, NPP, and the NPC.
The Peace Council expressed appreciation to the parties for their cooperation, describing the dialogue as a crucial step to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
