Six students arrested over alleged assault on Adisadel College student in Cape Coast
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of six students in connection with the alleged assault of a student from Adisadel College in the Central Region.
According to a press release issued by the police Public Affairs Unit in Cape Coast on February 24, 2026, the incident was reported by authorities of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School on the evening of February 20, 2026.
The school handed over six juvenile suspects, all students of the institution, to the Kotokuraba Police Station to assist with investigations.
Police say the suspects allegedly attacked Rexford Owusu-Ansah, a final-year student of Adisadel College, earlier that same day.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred during the final day of the inter-collegiate sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Reports suggest the victim was leaving the stadium with two friends when they encountered the group of Aggrey Memorial students.
Shortly after an interaction between them, the victim was reportedly attacked while his two friends managed to escape.
During the assault, the attackers allegedly took the student’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, his shoes, and an amount of about GHS1,400.
The victim was first treated at the stadium’s clinic before being referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further medical care.
He was later discharged on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
Police say the victim’s friends who escaped have indicated they can identify the individuals involved in the attack.
A medical report filed by a doctor also confirmed the student sustained a serious eye injury.
