The Tema Traditional Council (TTC) has announced it will impose a curfew on the Tema Newtown township on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
In a statement signed by Jefferey Lomo, the Registrar (TCC), it was communicated the curfew would hold between 11 PM & 2 AM.
“During the period, traditional pacification rites will be performed within the town and only traditional priests are to be seen outside,” the statement said.
The said rites, as understood by classfmonline, are to wash the land from a number of curses pronounced by aggrieved residents during the Kplejoo festival which saw two men losing their lives after the town’s youth and Ghana Navy personnel clashed. The appeasement and purification is important with this year’s festival approaching, too.
To the Eastern Navy Command, Tema Newtown, the statement said, “The information serves to enable you plan the deployment of your staff on that day taking into consideration the time mentioned above.”
