Two students of Nalerigu Senior High School in the North East Region were tragically shot and killed by unknown assailants on the school’s premises on the night of Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Although the exact circumstances of the attack remain unclear, local sources have hinted at a possible link to the ongoing Bawku tribal conflict.
However, security officials have yet to confirm any such connection.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the school and the wider Nalerigu community, leaving students and residents gripped by fear and uncertainty.
Many students are reported to be stranded on campus amid growing concerns over their safety.
Speaking to Citi Newsroom on Sunday, the Headmaster of Nalerigu SHS, Mr. Mohammed Tibila, confirmed the deaths and described the situation as deeply distressing.
Police have yet to release an official statement, but preliminary investigations are said to be underway.
The names of the deceased students have not been disclosed.
Tensions remain high as parents, community leaders, and school authorities await clarity on the motive behind the killings and measures to restore calm and reinforce security at the school.
