As part of this year’s national Mother’s Day celebrations, the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana held a heartwarming breakfast session dedicated to children.

The event, themed around love, family, and national pride, brought together schoolchildren and guests to honour the invaluable role of mothers in society.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of Ghana, the  Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, extended warm greetings and emphasised the central role that mothers play in shaping both families and the nation.

“Today, we come together to celebrate one of the most beautiful and powerful gifts we have – mothers,”  “They are the heart of our homes and the spirit of our nation.

Their love, care, and sacrifices help shape us into the people we are meant to be.”

The children’s session served not only as a fun-filled morning of music, laughter, and shared meals, but also as a moment of reflection on the importance of appreciating the women who raise and nurture future leaders. The young participants were encouraged to recognise the many women in their lives — from mothers and grandmothers to teachers and caregivers — and to show them love and gratitude.

“You may not fully understand all they do for you right now,” the Minister noted, “but one day, you will see just how much they have given to help you grow strong, kind, and ready for the future.”

Beyond the celebration, the breakfast session also carried a message of national development, with the Vice President’s office urging children to grow into responsible, respectful, and kind citizens — key values under the government’s RESET development agenda.

“You are an important part of our country’s future,” the Minister said. “And your role in building a strong and united Ghana is invaluable.”

The event ended on a joyous note, with children receiving treats and engaging in interactive activities that highlighted their value to Ghana’s future.

The celebration reinforced the message that even the youngest members of society are recognised and cherished.

“Happy Mother’s Day,” the Minister concluded, “and remember — you make your families and our country proud every single day.”
