Vice President sponsors naming of new dual-fuel vessel at Tema Port

Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has been honoured as the Lady Sponsor at the official naming ceremony of a new dual-fuel vessel by Pacific International Lines (PIL) at the Tema Port.
The high-profile event, which brought together the Minister for Transport, his deputy, senior government officials, and industry stakeholders, underscored Ghana’s growing stature in regional trade and logistics.
The state-of-the-art vessel is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and strengthen Ghana’s trade links with both West Africa and Asia.
In her remarks, the Vice President described the ceremony as a symbol of the deepening partnership between Ghana and Singapore, particularly in the areas of innovation, people development, and maritime cooperation.
She commended PIL for its continued investment in Ghana’s shipping sector, highlighting its role in creating jobs, nurturing local talent, and fostering stronger bilateral relations.
She also extended appreciation to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) for its contributions to Ghana’s maritime development, noting that the collaboration between government, regulators, and private partners was essential to positioning Ghana as a regional logistics hub.
“This marks a new chapter of collaboration and opportunity for Ghana’s shipping and logistics ecosystem,” the Vice President said.
