YEA equips over 16,000 master craftsmen, apprentices, announces ₵300/m stipend
The government, through the Youth Employment Authority (YEA), has distributed the necessary equipment to over 2,000 master craftsmen and 14,000 apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Programme.
Initially, the government aimed to train 10,000 young people in vocational and technical skills through the programme, but the target was later increased to 14,000.
Beneficiaries, trained in hairdressing, garment making, mechanics, and other fields, received essential equipment such as sewing machines, hairdryers, and other tools specific to their training.

During the distribution at Ejisu, Alhaji Inusah Mahama, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of YEA, stated that each beneficiary would also receive a GHS300 stipend monthly to assist with transportation.
He mentioned that over 100,000 people are expected to benefit from the next batch of the apprenticeship programme, which surpasses the initial pilot phase.
For his part, Nichodamus Dery, the National Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme, stated that the beneficiaries will be awarded an NVTI certificate upon completing their training.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to focus on their training and learn their trades for the benefit of their future.
Some master craftsmen and beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for this initiative.
