Youth clash in Winneba leaves one dead and several injured
One person has been confirmed dead after violent confrontations erupted between two rival youth groups in Sankor, a suburb of Winneba in the Central Region.
The cause of the violence is yet to be established, but several videos circulating on social media show individuals from the opposing groups attacking one another with machetes.
The Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, disclosed that a number of people sustained injuries during the incident, which took place on Sunday, January 25.
Following an analysis of the circulating footage, the police have apprehended a number of suspects in connection with the disturbances.
Class News also learned that a man known as Excoba succumbed to multiple machete wounds and gunshot injuries suffered during the confrontation.
Security personnel have since increased patrols and operations in the area, bringing the situation under control and restoring order in the community.
