10,833 parcels of narcotics destroyed at Koforidua site
Authorities have destroyed 10,833 parcels of suspected narcotic substances at the Koforidua dumping site along the Akwadum road in the Eastern Region, in compliance with section 108 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act.
The destruction was carried out under orders from the Koforidua Circuit Court dated May 5, 2026, relating to multiple narcotics cases. Officials from the Ghana Police Service, the Narcotics Control Commission, the Attorney-General’s Department, and lawyers for the accused were present.
In the case involving Ayertey Raphael Wilson and Samuel Tettey, the accused were convicted through a plea bargain filed on April 28, 2026, on charges including conspiracy and unlawful possession of narcotic drugs for trafficking.
For that case, 150 sacks of cannabis were destroyed. This included 77 sacks seized from a truck with registration GN 993-14 and 74 sacks from another truck with registration GG 3674-20. Each sack contained 70 parcels, giving a total of 10,500 parcels.
In a separate matter involving Innocent Klokofi, 333 parcels of cannabis were also destroyed under the same court orders.
