A/R: Armed robbers raid cocoa depot in Fomena, escape with over GHS1m

In a brazen attack, suspected armed robbers stormed a cocoa depot in Fomena, Ashanti Region, seizing over GH₵1 million and escaping before authorities could respond.
The robbery unfolded on Thursday evening around 6:20 PM at the Agro Ecom Company Limited Cocoa Depot, located in Adansi Ansah.
The four robbers, all masked and wielding AK-47 rifles, targeted the facility, taking mobile phones and other valuables alongside the substantial cash haul.
During the heist, the assailants reportedly fired shots at a GMC Terrain 2 vehicle, with registration number GS 9576-22, belonging to the District Officer.
The vehicle’s driver, the depot manager, escaped uninjured.
Police were alerted promptly, yet the armed robbers fled into a nearby forested area before law enforcement arrived.
In response, a combined team from the New Edubiasi and Adansi Fomena police departments has launched an extensive manhunt, suspecting the culprits may be hiding in neighbouring communities.
The authorities are urging anyone with information on the suspects’ whereabouts to assist in their capture.
