Ashanti regional police arrest man for impersonating herbalist and defrauding clients

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Emmanuel Boateng, for impersonation and fraud at Amangoase, a suburb of Nsuta.
Boateng, who is currently unemployed, was apprehended for allegedly posing as a traditional herbalist and falsely claiming to be the Chief Executive Officer of Nana Kofi Herbal.
He is accused of defrauding unsuspecting clients by advertising fake herbal services.
According to the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the suspect manipulated videos originally posted by the real herbalist on social media platforms.
He edited the videos by replacing the herbalist’s official contact numbers with his own, thereby misleading potential clients.
"Through this scheme, he lured victims seeking herbal treatment and collected money under false pretences," DSP Ahianyo said during a media briefing.
Preliminary investigations have uncovered that Boateng’s fraudulent activities extended beyond Ghana, with victims in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France also falling prey to the scam.
The Police Command has advised the public to be vigilant when seeking services online, especially from individuals claiming to represent known brands or professionals.
DSP Ahianyo urged the public to verify contact details before making any payments and to promptly report any suspicious activity to the police.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that efforts are being made to ensure justice is served.
