Bantama: Robbers steal MoMo vendor's GHS241,000 at gunpoint
A mobile money vendor has been robbed of GHS241,000 at gunpoint at Bantama in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
The gun-wielding men stormed the Bantama High Street on two motorbikes on Wednesday, 21 April 2021, invaded Osuani Boakye Ventures and made away with the money.
The Chief Executive Officer of the mobile money venture, Yaw Boakye Dankwa, said the incident occurred on the same day the money was withdrawn from the bank.
He stated that the police arrived at the scene after the armed robbers finished their operation and ran away with the money.
He noted that CCTV cameras captured the armed robbers.
The CCTV footage has since been handed over to the police.
Investigations are underway to clamp down on the suspects.
