Court hears motions in Kenneth Ofori-Atta’s case against Special Prosecutor
The Human Rights Division of the High Court on Thursday, October 23, 2025, heard two motions in the case of Kenneth Ofori-Atta v. Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Counsel for Mr. Ofori-Atta, the former Minister for Finance, moved two separate applications — one seeking discoveries and another requesting leave to amend the originating motion on notice.
Both applications were opposed by counsel for the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
After hearing submissions from both sides, the Court directed the parties to file and serve their written submissions by midnight on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The matter has been adjourned to November 25, 2025, for ruling on the two applications.
Mr. Ofori-Atta, who is under investigation by the OSP, filed the suit to challenge the Office’s declaration of him as “wanted”, arguing that the move was unlawful and beyond the OSP’s statutory authority.
The case has drawn considerable public interest, given Mr. Ofori-Atta’s former position in government and the growing scrutiny of the OSP’s investigative powers under Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.
