E/R: Police dismantles suspected drug storage site in Nkawkaw Ampekrom

The Eastern North Regional Police Command has dismantled a suspected drug storage facility at Nkawkaw Ampekrom in the Kwahu West Municipality following an intelligence-led operation conducted on May 13, 2025, around 10:00 p.m.
Addressing the media, the Eastern North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Isaac Kwadwo Asante, revealed that the raid was the result of two weeks of sustained surveillance on a residence suspected of housing narcotics.
The house, owned by 40-year-old Hawa Ibrahim, was identified as a key location in an illicit drug network.
During a thorough search of the premises, officers discovered 24 maxi bags, each containing 60 slabs of compressed plant material suspected to be Indian Hemp.
The total weight and chemical analysis of the substance are pending further examination at the Police Forensic Laboratory.
Two individuals were arrested in the operation — Hawa Ibrahim, the homeowner, and 30-year-old Latifa Adams, believed to be an accomplice.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Hawa Ibrahim was receiving supplies from an external accomplice, whose identity is currently being pursued by police.
Both suspects are in police custody and will be arraigned in court in the coming days.
DCOP Asante noted that the successful operation has curtailed a significant source of illegal drug distribution in the community.
He thanked residents and informants for their critical role in the operation and urged the public to continue collaborating with law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes.
"The police remain committed to fighting the proliferation of illegal drugs and ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities," he affirmed.
