Kasoa Murder Case: Teenager transferred from Police custody to prison for misconduct
One of the two teenagers accused of murdering an 11-year-old boy in Kasoa for a money ritual has been transferred from police custody to prison custody due to misconduct.
The 18-year-old accused, who is standing trial with a juvenile, was reported by officers of the Osu Police Station for misbehavior and requested not to return after court proceedings.
The accused has been moved among various police stations and was allegedly involved in fights with inmates. When the case was called on June 24, 2024, the prosecution requested that the 18-year-old be remanded in prison custody, which the court approved.
The business of the day, including final addresses and summing up, was postponed due to a juror strike over unpaid allowances, ongoing since May 16, 2024.
The case has been adjourned to July 8, 2024.
The prosecution recounted that on April 3, 2021, the accused lured the victim into an uncompleted building, struck him with a club and a cement block, rendering him unconscious, then buried him in a shallow grave as part of their "sakawa" mission.
Justice Lydia Osei Marfo issued a trial warrant for the accused to be kept at Nsawam Prison and brought to court as needed.
