N/R: Gunmen shoot and kill NIA official
Some unknown gunmen, on Thursday, 8 October 2020, killed a senior officer of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The gunmen are reported to have stormed a meeting of the Peace Council, which was being held at Saboabi in the Northern Region.
The meeting was being held to resolve a chieftaincy dispute between two Konkomba factions.
The gunmen are alleged to have opened fire at the venue of the meeting and shot the deceased multiple times leading to his death on the spot.
Confirming the incident, the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Saeed, noted that the attack was in connection with the ongoing Sanguli chieftaincy dispute.
